Ask Me About: Animal Ag/Nutrition/Welfare, Animal Ag/Antibiotics, Food Prices, Family Farms vs. Corporate Farms

About Me: I farm with my husband, Aaron, his parents, Larry & Jill and his brother, Alex, his wife Lacey and with their family — it’s a big family operation here! We grow corn and soybeans as well as feed beef cattle and chickens. My in laws feed hogs! We have 4 adorable children, 3 girls ages 10, 8 and 4 along with a newborn baby boy! I also work from home being a Top Leader of my Younique Cosmetics team. We’ve recently started a direct-to-consumer business selling our beef, hogs and chickens, and we look forward to sharing our farm with others. There is so much in agriculture that people are curious or confused about, and I love being able to share answers with them and show them exactly where their food comes from and who grows it!

Eating healthy is important to me and how I feed my family. I believe we have safe sustainable choices in the U.S. While I devote a lot of my free time working with numerous agriculture organizations and initiatives, my favorite thing to do is spend time with my family and play with my kids.

About Me: My husband, #DairymanDan, and I take care of 150 dairy cows alongside his parents. I host people at our GuestBarn, a unique vacation rental attached to our dairy barn, giving guests a 24/7 bird’s-eye view of our cows. As a big-city girl turned farmer, I’m learning new things about agriculture and our food (and much more!) every day. Sharing those experiences and learning from others’ experiences is one of my favorite things to do. I love that together we can build trust and a better world by having real conversations with, not at, each other!

Rhonda Hill

Madrid, Iowa

Our Farm:  corn, chicken, sheep soybeans

My Work: farmer, wife, mom, grandma

My Hobbies: arts and crafts, reading, travel, gardening

Ask Me About: farm ownership

About Me: I’m a fourth-generation farmer who’s driven to help consumers find the answers to their farming questions. One thing that makes me very proud is that my great grandfather purchased 160 acres back in 1875 after the Morrill Land Act of 1862. This land purchase helped finance the agriculture college in Ames now known as Iowa State University. My family was recognized at the Clay County Fair in 2016. I want to help consumers find the answers to their farming questions.

My Work: Educator, farmer, mom

My Hobbies: Hiking, Photography, Travel

Ask Me About: Animal welfare

About Me: Our farm is truly a family affair! We’re fortunate to have three generations working together to build a farm for our future generations. I grew up raising sheep and hogs, and my husband grew up with sheep, hogs and row crops. We both used to be agriculture teachers but have since moved to the farm full-time. It’s understandable that fellow moms have questions about how their food is raised and where it comes from. I enjoy being an example and being able to share the truth about food production.

In all facets of our farm operation, our goal is to leave it better than it was before. It is such a privilege to be a farmer, and I feel it’s our job to arm consumers with knowledge to make purchasing decisions for their family. My Work: Teacher, mom, farmer, entrepreneur

My Hobbies: Baking, Cooking, Boating, Hunting, Gardening

Ask Me About: Sustainability and Conservation, Animal Ag/Nutrition/Welfare

About Me: My husband, Brandon, and I raise beef cattle (and our son Wyatt). We’re active in many state and local agriculture and conservation groups, and I also help on my family farm which has been around for more than a century! As if farming and being a mom doesn’t keep me busy enough, I’ve channeled my passion for agriculture and education into a part-time job with our local Farm Bureau, teaching Ag in the Classroom. With more and more families not living on farms and not sure where their food comes from, I hope to educate all consumers about agriculture and how it affects our lives.
